Several new vehicles premiered a the Dodge press conference at today’s LA Auto Show. After getting heavily criticized by the industry and customers, Dodge finally took to completely redoing the interior components of nearly all of their vehicles for 2011. Cars like the 2011 Journey, Avenger, and Dodge Caravan received minor upgrades to the exterior which included a front fascia and new tail lights as well as the new interior.
Ralph Gillies made it a huge point to criticize the outgoing models for their lack of refinement and mentioned the fine tuning of the suspension and driving characteristics of all of the new vehicles. Gillies proclaimed that the current offering of products is finally one tat he can be proud of and will go head-to-head with the competition. Along with the fine tuning the vehicles got the all new Pentastar 3.6l V6. This powertrain along with upgraded transmissions in vehicles that suffered from the older 4 spd, give the new Dodge vehicles power and gas mileage to stay relevant.
The Dodge Challenger was updated for 2011 with a slightly different front bumper, new interior 3-spoke steering wheel, and updated powertrain. The new 6.4l, or 392 engine, is first used in the SRT Challenger and creates an astounding 470hp while giving an average of 22mpg highway with new cylinder shutoff technology implemented. The base SE Challenger will also get the 3.6l Pentastar V6.
