In a very surprising announcement on Facebook this morning the Joss Developments company announced they would be pulling out of their Kickstarter funding attempt for $480k. The Kickstarter campaign was launched last month in an attempt to try and fund the new JP1 Supercar that the company has been developing for years. The company’s founder, Matthew Thomas, explained that several investors have come forward as news of the Kickstarter campaign spread and that one investor – yet unnamed – has stepped up to front the build. Joss seems to have made a deal with this new mystery investor to remove the online funding campaign in order to pen the deal with a new sole backer. We can only speculate at this point which investor or company is willing to invest to build Australia’s sole supercar. Joss was founded in 1998 and in 2004 launched the first JT1 test vehicle as a prototype for what would be the Country’s first foray in the supercar game. The new JP1 is claimed to feature “a top speed of 340km/h and acceleration from 0–100km/h in or around 3.0 seconds – with performance that will be akin to LeMans or GT race cars.”
